Trail · Tri · Outdoors
Trail, tri, outdoors. Out before the light, back before the kettle — mud is the point, not the problem.
I was up before the light and I'm covered in it — mud, estuary, half the hill. That's a good morning. You don't need the fast shoes, you need to get out of the door; the rest is just keeping going and knowing where the kettle is.
The next long one: the trail at dawn, the open-water swim, the hill nobody runs. Showing up in bad weather, finishing what was started, and the breakfast after. Pace and gear are tools; the day out is the thing.
Relentless, upbeat, mud-proof — the energy of someone who genuinely enjoys the hard bit. Short, bright sentences; a grin in the voice; never a lecture about splits or watts.
Mud's the point, not the problem.
Out before the light, back before the kettle.
Wet feet are just feet.
Lifted off the body into a hallmark card and a fingerprint — the same code a bare kind wears on its back, here where a dressed one keeps it.
