A canopy carrying the family's own face, a trunk, and a root fan below the line. The face is not redrawn for it: the eye line is still 129 and the mouth zone still x 92-108, which is why a treekind reads as one of the family and not as an illustration of a tree. 5 crowns across 10 kinds — and the interesting half is underground.

Five crowns

A canopy here is a list of circles, so another kind of tree is another list. One rule governs every one of them: the crown must be SOLID across x 66-134 at the eye line, and nothing else may be drawn there. Break the first and the face sits on the background; break the second and the tree wears its own foliage as a fringe.

The kind palette as LEAF rather than skin: the same hue pushed toward green, so ten trees read as one wood rather than as ten unrelated plants. Bark and roots shift with it.

Leaning

A pair has to lean TOWARD each other or it is two trees standing near each other. The lean is drawn in coordinates rather than applied as a rotation — the canopy moves, the trunk slants to meet it — so nothing depends on a transform that a screen printer might read differently. Lean belongs to the round tree: a leaning poplar is a fallen poplar.

The links are real

Every kind carries a fifteen-position code, and kin similarity is how many positions two of them hold in common — the same number the register publishes. In a grove it decides how many strands run between two trees and how heavy they are. Wisp and Orbit share most of their code and you can see it; the pair at the far end share least, and you can see that too. The moodboard drew a pretty network. This one is a picture of something true, and it cost nothing extra because the numbers were already there.
